Pynchon in Public Day, on 8th May, is an annual worldwide event to celebrate the work of author Thomas Pynchon. It falls on 8 May because that is the author’s birthday.
Pynchon in Public Day began in 2011 with Martin and Bill meeting up in a pub in England. (Both Martin and Bill participated in early episodes of the podcast.) It has attracted more and more participants every year. Fans read his work in public, individually or in groups, and post photos online. For more details and to post details, please visit the Facebook page and/or the Twitter page. You can submit photos to the Facebook page or tag them at either site with #pynchoninpublic.
The Pynchon in Public Podcast developed from the online connections established through this event.
